
Berkeley Books is a charity that has taken over from the Gloucestershire County Council Library Service the running of the library for the community of Berkeley and surrounding parishes. It provides volunteers from the community, assisted by a paid leader for a few hours each week...
Free crafts session for children aged 5 and over who wish to make a card and gift for their dads. This is a free ticket event, to get a ticket please apply to the library.

Test your knowledge of Berkeley by joining in this fun Scavenger Hunt which is open to adults and children.

There is a free car park adjacent to the library
The library is free for all to use. If you have a Gloucestershire County Library Card you can use it at Berkeley Books. Loan terms are the same as in Gloucestershire County Libraries...
There are some 6000 books in the library for free loan Also Hire of DVDs and more at moderate charges.
The stock is often updated. A list of Berkeley Books' Stock, that in other Community Libraries and that in GCC's Main Libraries may be viewed online. We........
You can reserve any Gloucestershire County catalogue item i.e. books, DVDs, CDs etc. online or by request at the library for local pick up...
There are two Public Access PCs providing free internet access for the public on production of their library card. There is also a "drop-in computer". Using this one, does not require a library card. In future, parents or guardians will NOT have to give permission for children under 16 to use the internet. If a child is not to use the internet, a parent or guardian must accompany the child to the library. The onus will be on the parent or guardian.

WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEER LIBRARIANS. Each shift is 3 hours. You choose each shift that you can do in the next month. It is up to each volunteer how much time is given; Some choose to book a session once a month and a few, once a week. You will be trained to use the TALIS computers for handling the movement of books etc.
WE ALSO NEED MORE GENERAL VOLUNTEERS. for decorating, cleaning etc.
Additional Books
Community Library Staff are in the process of putting some 50 new (to the library) books into Berkeley Books. These have been donated free or purchased at minimal cost. The costs of accession have been kept to the minimum.
GCC contribute funds to our Library through their Library Service. The Service has asked us to help publicise and manage some of their initiatives, from time to time. Readers are requested to participate.
