Notices

When the Library is up and running we envisage restarting or introducing a number of schemes aimed at the elderly and the children; including the older children:

  • Restore for the housebound, the book delivery and collection service and the Library Club (with "Ring and Ride" to get you to its meetings).
  • Give A level students etc. on the job experience towards Library Qualifications/Scouting Badges and the Duke of Edinburgh Award for Volunteering.
  • Cooperate with the School Holiday Reading Challenge
  • It is hoped to maintain the children’s Library based activities such as Craft Club without serious interruption
  • Berkeley has an exciting heritage (an archaeological dig to define the Saxon Minster, The Castle, Dr Jenner, several Old Buildings, old crafts; particularly those based on the river, The Power Station, Sharpness Port, the Old Severn Bridge, etc.) We envisage introducing a rotation of illustrative displays in the Library of documents, artifacts, photographs etc
  • There are a number of practising artists in the area we will evaluate the possibility of having exhibitions of their work in the library.

Anybody interested in assisting in such activities is requested to contact our Secretary, Margaret Tayler
